Earth’s Teachings: If We’re Willing to Listen
Yesterday was Earth Day. And as I got to spend a lovely spring day with my daughter, I also got time for reflection.
As Vermont truly awakens to this delightful spring warm-up, so do I, embracing each moment of this beautiful transition. The vibrant energy of spring, coupled with its soothing warmth, has me feeling so alive and invigorated, ready to soak in all that this season has to offer.
After a long winter filled with moments of rest and deep reflection, I find myself ready to stretch, spread out, and truly take up space in the world. Perhaps you are feeling this sense of awakening as well, eager to embrace the warmth and vibrancy of the season ahead.
I’m not sure about you, but I’ve kept myself quiet and small for so long; it’s honestly quite exhausting and sometimes feels like a heavy weight to carry.
So to finally feel into myself and find the courage to spread my wings, so to speak, feels incredibly empowering on a deep and profound level.
This spring, I truly sense that I am leveling up and ascending to yet another significant step in the intricate process of life, filled with newfound possibilities and opportunities.
I love to think of life as a beautiful spiral. Where we continually circle around and each time we come back to the same familiar place, we’ve slightly expanded ourselves, our energy, and the space we occupy.
This natural rhythm of returning offers us a gentle reminder that growth is a constant journey, and with every encounter, we deepen our understanding and broaden our experiences.
Which brings me back to the cherished celebration of Earth Day.
Thank you, dear Mother Earth, for always supporting us, nurturing our spirits, and nourishing our bodies with your abundant resources.
We are always taken care of and deeply cared for, especially if we’re willing to pause, listen, and truly connect with the rhythms of nature that surround us.
Just take a moment to look around at the natural world surrounding you where you are. What’s growing in the earth and what’s blooming vibrantly? Take the time to sit with those plants in a quiet moment of rest and reflection. What feelings or thoughts come through as you connect with them?
Often times, those plants are the very medicine you might need for your well-being.
However, if ingesting these plants is deemed unsafe or if they are not suitable to touch or consume, or perhaps are located in a place that is not easily accessible; there’s still valuable medicine in that situation.
The inherent qualities of these plants can sometimes provide healing in unexpected ways. Simply sitting with these plants had the ability to teach us something; if we’re willing to listen.
Countless spiritual teachings surround us, awaiting our willingness to listen and open our hearts and minds to their wisdom.
In conclusion, Earth Day serves as a vital reminder of our collective responsibility to nurture and protect the planet we inhabit.
It is an opportunity to reflect on the teachings of environmental stewardship, sustainability, and the interconnectedness of all living things.
This annual observance urges individuals and communities to take action, whether through small personal changes or larger collective efforts, to foster a healthier Earth for future generations. By embracing these teachings, we not only honor our relationship with nature but also empower ourselves to create a more sustainable and harmonious world, transforming awareness into meaningful action.
